| Chasin the Blues is an evening of live music and dancing. It was established by Bob Taylor in 1993 and was held once a month through till 2001. Bob organised all the evenings with the generous help from many people who shared his enthusiasm for the events and were willing to donate their time. Chasin the Blues featured artists such as Big Joe Turner, Dana Gillespie, Tina May, Clarence Tex Walker and Herbie Flowers. In 2001 the All Saints management was dissolved and the event ceased. Lewes Town council tried hard to find a new way of operating the centre and finally employed Lesley May as manager. Lesley spent some time talking to the people of Lewes about what sort of activities ought to be available at the All Saints and one suggestion that came up repeatedly was a return of Chasin the Blues evenings. Bob then teamed up with Danny Cooklin who is a Loudspeaker designer and had originally suplied the sound equipment for the evenings. |
Since the re-launch the events have been very popular and there have been many great performances. The aim of the event has stayed the same and continues to offer a relaxed evening available to people inside and outside of Lewes. It has also maintained itself as a low cost event and this has been possible as a result of the continued support from the folk who help run it. Here are a few in no particular order.
